Cakes are ready Saturday and Sunday 9am-11am for a friendly front-porch pickup in San Carlos.

cake care

How to love your cake at home.

All my cakes should be eaten at room temperature. This is extremely important — there's a vast (and I mean vast) difference in taste when it's pulled right out of the fridge!

While transporting, we recommend placing the cake box on the floor of the passenger seat with the air conditioning on. If you're traveling for over 30 minutes, we recommend bringing a small cooler box or a cardboard box, as our coconut cream is sensitive and can melt in heat or sunlight.

Coconut cream icing

  • Same-day pickup: you can leave it out. Store it in a cool place away from direct heat and sunlight.
  • Next day: refrigerate, but bring it out at least 3 hours before eating so it comes back to room temperature. Keeps in the fridge for about 2 days, but tastes best on the day of pickup.

Vegan buttercream icing (chocolate cake)

  • No refrigeration needed. Stays good at room temperature for up to 4 days. For the chocolate cake we highly recommend warming up by the slice for about ten seconds or so — yummiest experience 😀

balancing taste and compassion for our planet

We use a minimalistic approach in both ingredients and aesthetic. Simple, organic and sustainably sourced ingredients bring out the best in our cakes and flavors.

I started Shru's Kitchen to share vegan recipes with my friends and family, but soon realized that my true passion lay in creating delicious vegan baked goods for vegans and non-vegans alike.

I aim at providing wholesome, plant-based baked items to the local community. I use organic ingredients wherever possible. With my cakes, I hope to provide simple and elegant designs — minimal ingredients, maximum satisfaction.

I draw inspiration from the flavors of my childhood, recreating classic Indian sweets that are packed with cardamom, pistachio, saffron and more. I love playing with tea and floral flavors that are rich, aromatic and tickle all your senses.

Shru's Kitchen is a Vegan Bakery that's registered as an S corp. We operate out of a commissary kitchen in Redwood City with a Food Operator permit from San Mateo Environmental Health Services.
